Intelligent Medical Objects Links Medical Record Vocabularies to Clinical Reference Systems™ Patient Education Library

10/18/1999

San Diego, California, October 18, 1999 - 1999 MGMA 73rd Annual Conference - Intelligent Medical Objects (IMO), well-known for its expertise in point-of-care medical applications and vocabulary management, announces the release and immediate availability of its disease and procedural vocabularies with direct links to Clinical Reference Systems' (CRS) Health Advisor patient education library. CRS offers patient education products that cover a full range of conditions, diseases, treatments, behavioral issues, drug products, recommendations, and instructions in English, with many topics in Spanish.

"With the thousands of links IMO has created directly to the patient education library, the IMO datasources and clinical modules now have an additional powerful feature: single click, immediate access to specific and relevant patient education at the most appropriate time - the point of care. With these direct links, a healthcare professional can access patient education directly from a problem list or a superbill module. There is no longer the need for changing applications, "navigating" the index or table of contents or performing a separate search to find the patient education of interest. Specific patient education can be quickly selected, reviewed and printed right from the patient's problems, procedures and medications," said Fabio Almeida MD, Executive VP and Chief Medical Officer for IMO.

IMO's ICD, CPT and SNOMED vocabularies, offered as highly structured relational databases or Plug n' Play Lotus Notes and Internet modules, provide rapid and clinically superior database and application modules for the electronic medical record and coding decision support.

The IMO Enhanced CPT™ and IMO Enhanced ICD™ datasources are extensively enhanced procedure and disease/diagnosis vocabularies. IMO has authored improved "short" name descriptions, thousands of synonyms and lexical variants, and word list indexes which allow for improved data repository analysis and clinical coding and database access at the point of care. These products allow healthcare professionals to find codes based on natural language concepts and clinical relationships among the procedural codes within problem list, order-entry, superbill and chart abstraction applications. The vocabularies are also linked with Lexi-Comp's clinical information library.

Intelligent Medical Objects is a Chicago based firm with a core team of medical doctors, software developers and engineers. For more information about IMO's products and consulting services, call 888-466-6246 or visit IMO's website at www.imo-online.com.
