Intelligent Medical Objects Announces Availability of SNOMED® RT IMO's Health Search Portal to Incorporate Latest Version of SNOMED®

11/06/2000

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA (November 6, 2000) - Intelligent Medical Objects™ (IMO), a leading provider of Internet and Client-Server healthcare applications and tools, announced today that it has signed a licensing agreement with the College of American Pathologists (CAP) to provide SNOMED® RT and SNOMED® CT as part of its lexicon. IMO has long provided earlier versions of CAP's SNOMED (versions 3.x) in relational format, but this new licensing agreement will make the improved SNOMED available to IMO's clients.

The incorporation of SNOMED RT into IMO's medical vocabulary, will allow physicians to search, find, collect and store clinical information more easily and with greater interoperability than ever before. Using IMO's Health Search or Personal Health Terminology™ to select the appropriate clinical term for a patient's problem allows clinicians to more accurately documents the patient's condition while automatically linking to fully billable codes such as ICD-9 and CPT®. The additional links to SNOMED make the toolset even more useful for outcomes research and electronic medical records. Other links provide immediate access to the medical literature and trusted Internet content for patients and providers.

"IMO is pleased to be able to provide SNOMED RT to our clients," said Frank Naeymi-Rad, Chief Executive Officer of Intelligent Medical Objects. "We believe this further demonstrates IMO's commitment to providing a high quality end-user experience while maintaining integration with accepted, standardized vocabularies."

IMO will be providing SNOMED in relational format as part of IMO's Software Development Kit (SDK). In addition, it will be integrated with IMO's Health Search portal, XML import/export utility and Adaptive Data Model (ADM™).

About IMO Health Search
IMO Health Search is a portal that can be accessed by consumers and health care providers directly, or can be embedded in health websites. For end users, searches can be done on medical conditions, medications, and medical procedures. The search portal returns definitions, additional information on the terms, and links to on-line resources including journal abstracts and full text articles. Users can customize their result list, add or remove sites or reorder the list so their favorite sites return first. For websites that serve providers and consumers, only a few lines of code are required to embed the IMO Health Search portal in the website, and the customizable result lists mean that sites can place their own content first.
