IMO® Procedure (IT) is medical procedure software that contains a powerful
master index1
allowing clinicians and coders to find the procedure terms they
need quickly and easily from a charge perspective. This offering
also includes revision information (back to 1995), a hierarchical classification structure, help notes,
fee schedules, and National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI) information.
IMO's clinician-friendly order vocabulary is also included and allows users to select
terms relevant at the time of order placement. Links from these order terms to CPT® codes
simplify the selection when more detail is known. In addition, crossmaps to SNOMED® CT and MeSH
are also available.
IMO® Procedure
- HCPCS
This flavor of IMO® Procedure (IT)
contains a similar robust master index
allowing clinicians to find the HCPCS-coded durable medical equipment/supply terms they need quickly
and easily. The software includes fee schedules and National Correct Coding
Initiative (NCCI) information.
IMO® Procedure
- ICDP
For those users looking for an inpatient procedure solution, this flavor of IMO® Procedure
(IT)
is ideal. Created with the ICD-9-CM procedure (or Volume III)
codes in mind, this solution provides a clinician-friendly layer with maps to SNOMED® CT, MeSH, and UMLS.
Intelligent indexing is also included allowing for quick and easy searching.

Why Do I Need It?
IMO® Procedure (IT)
helps clinicians find the right procedure terms to
document and code more completely and accurately within the normal workflow. Today, most clinicians are
forced to use administrative coding sets (CPT®, HCPCS, and ICD-9-CM procedure codes) to capture data.
However, many of these administrative codes and terms are highly specific, contain exclusions, or use language
that is not natural or familiar for clinicians. Administrative codes and descriptors also do not contain the different
clinical, administrative, and colloquial terms used in health care, making it difficult for clinicians,
information management professionals, and patients to find the terms they need when performing simple
text searches.
How and Where Can It Help Me?
IMO® Procedure (IT)
makes it much easier to find the
appropriate CPT® code using terminology familiar to clinicians. CPT® coding is
typically used for "chargeables" and contains detail frequently unavailable at
the time of ordering. IMO's preferred order vocabulary allows users to select
concepts relevant at the time of order placement ("orderables"), and the links
to CPT® codes simplify the selection of the appropriate terms when more detail
is known. Crossmaps to SNOMED® CT allows for additional hierarchical
representation and analysis. Fee tables, known as Relative Value Unit (RVU)
tables, provide standard fees associated with professional and technical
components for facility and non-facility installations. NCCI tables are used to
warn when two CPT® codes should not be submitted together in the same claim, and
when combined with IMO's Medical Necessity tables provide financial
decision-support to ensure proper documentation of your claims.
With IMO® Procedure (IT)you get:
- Regularly scheduled updates of CPT®, HCPCS, and ICD-9-CM procedure codes
- Advanced searching capabilities
- Handling of simple and complex procedure coding
- Up-to-date RVU and NCCI tables
- Maintained concept links to SNOMED® CT, MeSH, UMLS (enabling data analysis and reference site searching)
