Thursday, February 11th, 2016

Frank Naeymi-Rad, PhD, Chairman and CEO of IMO,  was one of the many American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) members and staff that traveled to Capitol Hill on September 3rd for meetings with members of Congress and their legislative aides to discuss the role of informatics in health care – from research and discovery to delivery and population health.  The discussions with Congressional staff focused on research, workforce and clinical practice as well as, using AMIA as a resource for insights and expertise. All of which make up AMIA’s policy priorities.
Hill Day is an opportunity for members to build relationships with their legislators and raise awareness for the organization and the issues most relevant to the profession.  Dr. Naeymi-Rad spoke on behalf of the biomedical and health informatics community during his visit, built valuable relationships in Congress, and spread awareness about health information technology and informatics.
AMIA sponsored the visit for members of the influential Industry Advisory Council. IMO is a Benefactor of AMIA.
AMIA continues to focus on informatics research, practice, and workforce development.
